A great spot to stop at with lots of of places to visit locally. Beautiful scenery and a very quiet and relaxing cozy place with everything you need. Elaine was a superb host, very friendly and offered some great tips on trips out for the day. The sausages and bacon from the farm are highly recommended.

Such an amazing place. The surroundings are divine, the farm is authentically beautiful and the hosts are wonderful. The whole region is amazing with so much to do locally. Everything worth doing is only a short drive away. Would definitely visit again.
Thank you for a wonderful stay xx

A beautiful peaceful location in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway, with great accommodation and suuperb hosts. If you want to get away from it all, this place is hard to beat, but it's warm and comfortable and only a few miles from Kirkcudbright - a lovely town with lots to offer.

Thank you so much for your lovely welcome. It is really the nicest cottage we have ever seen.
Beau cottage, merci. Vive les moutons! Merci beaucoup pour un agréable acceuil - à bientôt. Joseph, Juliette, Matthieu, Louise, April 2019.
Thank you for your kindness, hospitality and home baking. We all had a wonderful time in The Steading; the children - big and small - all enjoyed the farm and surrounding countryside and all of us have found a love for that part of Scotland. Andrew and Linda, April 6th 2019
A brilliant week, such a comfortable cottage. The walk around the farm is a lovely way to start the day. Thank you both, see you soon, Judy and Nigel. March '19.
Had a lovely holiday in fab accommodation with lovely views. Glynis.
Thank you Elaine and Charlie for a lovely welcome, we especially loved the biscuits! We know we have had a good holiday when the kids don’t want to go home! Thank you! Ann and John.
Sam really enjoyed helping out on the farm,Charlie and Elaine were great as usual, nothing being too much trouble. Many thanks for another fantastic holiday, Michael, Janet and Sam.
Second time here for us, very peaceful and comfy cottage, enjoyed the farm's own bacon and sausages…and lovely hospitality. Ian and Evelyn.
Lovely place to get back in touch with nature. Beautiful and peaceful location for walks, with Kirkcudbright just down the road and beaches to play from. A paradise for hiking and cycling.
The Farm was so lovely and peaceful. There is certainly a lot more exploring we will be doing in the area, so hope to visit you again.

This is a great base for exploring various 7 Stanes Mountatin Biking trails - we stayed 4 x nights and rode Ae on the way to the coast, Glentrool (big day out!), Drumlanrig Castle (blue and red rides - best of the trip). Then Dalbeattie on the way home.
The Cheese Loft is lovely and roomier than we expected - we self catered no problem. Elaine and Charlie are great hosts and very welcoming. We felt very at home and had a great week up there - can't wait to return ASAP. Highly recommended - our first expereince of AirB&B - well impressed.

Highly recommended - this cosy and well equipped flat that is in tranquil and beautiful surroundings! The cheeseloft is spacious, warm and homely. There are so many walks and places of interest we didn't have time to see most. We will have to return to see more. Thanks to Elaine and Charlie for allowing us to use their home to explore the area and for being around for advice.
We stayed in the Cheese Loft during our stay. The weather was lovely for December, cold but bright. The loft is pleasant whilst not being luxurious, lots of character. There was a bit of a chilly welcome on Friday evening but we got warmed up and were given an extra heater for the rest of our stay. Good shower. Charlie and Elaine were very good hosts and we ate breakfast in their farmhouse kitchen both mornings of our stay which was very nice. The area is beautiful with lots of great walks. We can recommend an Italian called Marcos in Castle Douglas which was great and a delightful tearoom called the Crown and Anchor in Dundrennan.
An amazing place, amid scenery that's (almost) to die for. If you are smitten by scenic grandeur, wildlife, peace and quiet, don't look anywhere else. This is the place to be.
Stayed in the Haybarn hostel, an old converted barn on Elaine and Charlies' farm. What a beautiful place! There is a lovely half hour trail around the farm with stunning views of the surrounding countryside which you can do. Elaine and Charlie are lovely hosts. A short 10 min drive to Kirkcudbright for a choice of nice dinner options. Highly recommended.
